Corpus Christi High School is part of a family of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Cardiff. We are a voluntary aided school which provides education to pupils aged 11 - 16 years. We are also part of Cardiff County Council Education Authority.
This means that we not only provide the best possible vocational and academic education but we aim to nurture students in their faith and follow the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Our commitment to Christian values also means that our aim is to enable the development of the whole child. That is, we recognize that education is not confined to success in external examinations only but is also about spiritual, moral, personal, social, physical and cultural development.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR YEAR 11 DURING GCSE
Dear Parent/ Carer
This year the school is following Welsh Government and Local Authority guidance with regard to provision for Year 11 pupils during the external examination period. In accordance with this guidance there will not be any ‘study leave’ for Year 11 pupils as in previous years. All year 11 pupils will be expected to attend school until public examinations have been completed.
The school will provide as normal a curriculum as possible. Within this time it is in inevitable there will be some adjustments to accommodate examinations.
Subject teachers will be teaching/revising with their classes until they sit their particular examination. Once all examinations in their subjects have been completed, they will supervise the pupils doing revision for other subjects. It is anticipated that teachers of subjects which are timetabled later will put on revision sessions during some of these periods and it would be advantageous for pupils to attend them.
In terms of attendance the only exception that could occur is when there is an examination in the afternoon. On these days pupils can, if they wish, choose to stay at home in the morning to prepare. Please note that teachers intend to provide targeted pre-examination sessions in the mornings before an examination. In these cases it would be very useful for pupils to attend and arrangements for these sessions will be communicated to the pupils shortly.
Research consistently shows that pupils’ attendance in lessons, and at school, during the public examinations improves individual performance and results. Revision at home is still an extremely important aspect of a learners preparation and it is hoped that all our Year 11 pupils remain fully focused and hardworking in these coming weeks.
